For any other questions, please message us on social, or email parkslopecats@gmail.com

Foster Home (High Need)

Having local foster-homes allow us to keep rescuing more animals in need, amid NYC’s Cat-crisis, while the animals get additional socialization and individualized attention.

By becoming a foster you will greatly impact the life of an animal in the short term while he or she waits to find a permanent home. Fostering truly saves lives. To learn more on our foster process, check out our Foster page.

As a foster-based rescue, our need for foster-homes and kind, understanding fosters is extremely essential.

Shelter Caretaker (High Need)

Our principal holding space in Park Slope Brooklyn needs animal lovers to help, care and give affection to the friendly cats and kittens we rescue. Spend time grooming, petting and playing with our kittens and adult cats in a multi-cat space and rooms. Help socialize our kittens by getting them used to human contact. (Please note: We keep the space quite hygienic and request you to bring a change of shoes when you enter the space. We also ask you to wash your hands, and follow other protocol to keep things clean.)

Outreach & Media Associate – Help us with virtual promos, social media, cat-videos, cat-bios etc. (High Need)

We always need help in reaching out online. As an outreach volunteer you can help coordinate and promote adoptable animals, update our Petfinder listings and social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, BlueSky – we definitely need more help in the last two platforms), make reels and posts and take good photos of the kitties looking for homes.

If you are good with graphics’ software, reel movie-making apps and have marketing and promo skills – we would greatly appreciate your help!

Transporter (High Need)

We need help in transporting kitties from their holding space to foster homes, from foster homes to to their forever-homes, and most of all transport to vet-clinics for appointments. We also require transport help during medical emergencies. This may involve dropping off or picking up a kitty to or from the vet and sometimes (by car or uber/lyft) or it can be just as simple as dropping off meds to a foster family (which can be done even by foot, bicycle or public transit.) If you have a vehicle and would like to help out, please contact us. We also have a vehicle you can drive if you have a valid NY state driver’s license and a good driving record. We have the carriers, cloths and other essentials – all we need is your time, driving skill and kindness.

Administrative Organizer (Medium Need at the moment)

Are you good with Excel sheets, organizing files, documents, spread-sheets? Can you scan and file vet records and vaccination records? Do you take pride in your attention to detail? The behind-the-scenes administrative and organizational aspect at a small but very busy rescue like ours involves a huge amount of work and we are very understaffed in this area. If you have the above skills, you can work with one of our senior coordinators to help out with monthly intake spread-sheets, organizing adoption applications and contracts and much more. Added bonus if you’re good with Jot Forms, Google Forms, and skilled in Adobe PDF file editing and merging docs together.

Adoption Event Counselor (Need will arise soon this year)

Our rescue will be holding adoption events soon in Park Slope. Join us as a volunteer who meets with potential adopters to help find the best match for their home.

Fundraising/Grants Writer

Currently, all the vet bills being paid are from our own pockets. Several cats could do with online Fundraisers or GoFundMe campaigns but we’re not finding the time to do so. If you’re good with using online fundraising platforms, we need you! If you can scan listings on local Buy Nothing groups to find food, litter being donated, you can help us a lot as well.

And while not needed right away – if you have experience in grants writing, preparing grant proposals and grants applications, please contact us. You’d also have to manage grant deadlines, file supplemental materials as needed (which we’ll provide you with) and identify + develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process.

Trap-Neuter-Return TNR Coordinator (Experienced)

If you already have experience in this, please contact us. You can help reduce the number of feral cats in your community by trapping them and bringing them to our veterinary partners to be spayed or neutered. Once recovered, you will release the feral cats back to their colonies and find foster or permanent homes for the socialized cats.

Emergency-Call Outreach Associate (Need will arise soon this year)

For this role, we’d prefer someone who has experience and knowledge of local shelters and rescue groups in NYC. If you don’t, we can help you with acquainting yourself with the names and locations of rescue and TNR groups and how to find them. Every single day Park Slope Cats receives too many e-mails, voice-mails and website inquiries related to animals spotted after being abandoned or injured, abused, tortured, pregnant, malnourished, helpless or in dangerous locations. We will forward you these messages and you will need to e-mail or call or text the person and guide them on how best we can help them – either directly or sending them the contact info of another rescue organization and/or shelter closer to the area where they found the poor animal(s) or asking around in social media groups to find orgs that are closer by or who can help.

Come – be part of our team. We look forward to hearing from you!
